Overview
Model: 11009 or 11010
This quart or gallon container of Pentacryl™ is a wood stabilizer used by woodcarvers, woodturners, builders and furniture makers to keep green wood from cracking, checking and splitting during the drying process. It will not react with the tannic acids in wood and will make your wood look cleaner and very slightly muted from the original. Pentacryl™ can be brushed on for smaller pieces, or the wood can be immersed and soaked into a 100% solution of Pentacryl™. If you enjoy turning, carving or working with green wood but struggle with cracking, checking or warping, you need Pentacryl™! Excellent results have been achieved with many types of wood including Eastern White Pine, Basswood, Oak, Live Oak, Tupelo, Walnut, Apple Wood, Hawthorne, Cherry, Rock Maple, Soft Maple, Ash, Madrone, Bamboo and many others.
Once the wood is dry, it can be sanded, stained, wood burned, glued and finished (sealed). Dyes can be added to Pentacryl™ or the wood can be stained after treatment. We recommend using oil or alcohol-based stains, dyes and sealers as water-based products may not dry properly and leave the surface of the wood tacky. Pentacryl™ will not discolor the wood, is non-hygroscopic and will not oxidize, decompose or migrate in the wood when exposed to different degrees of temperature and relative humidity.
