Renowned Chip Carving Artisan and Pioneer Presents ‘Royal Charter’ to King Arthur’s Tools.
World renowned author of 7 best selling books on chip carving, founder of the Alpine School of Woodworking, Ltd, visiting artist/lecturer at the Chicago Art Institute and driving force of the wood and chip carving renaissance in North America over the past quarter century Wayne Barton presented a handcrafted ‘Royal Charter’ to Arthur and Pamela Aveling of King Arthur’s Tools, at a celebration on March 15th.
This unique ‘Royal Charter’ is the official proclamation of the guiding principles that King Arthur’s Tools operates by and reflects their attitude about doing business in general. Says Arthur “Only Sir Wayne Barton, as we call him in the Kingdom, could handcraft our values into a creative masterpiece utilizing the intricate and beautiful art of chip carving. We are so fortunate this talented genius is coming here!”
In addition to the carving presentation, 2 day Beginner’s Chip Carving Class was held on March 17th and 18th at Camelot’s Woodworking Studio, emphasizing technique for those with little or no carving experience. The class focuses on the basics of chip carving, executing essential patterns and designs, with emphasis on how to create borders, grids, rosettes, lettering and free form ideas.
