Arthur:

. . . regarding your Holey Galahad you sent me a few weeks ago.

I have been designing and making contemporary sculpted chairs for 30 years.  I tell everyone that a finely crafted rocking chair will take about 100 hours to make from start to finish.  There is about 40 hours of selecting the right pieces of lumber, cutting out all the components and assembling the chair.  Then comes the fun part; about 60 hours of shaping, sculpting and sanding the chair to a fine piece of furniture.

For many years most of the shaping was done with hand tools and a lot of elbow grease.  Then, I discovered . . . Holey Galahad

The Holey Galahad 4” grind wheels are one of the finest tools I have used throughout my entire career.  The Holey Galahad is a precision balanced grinding wheel that is so controllable it is beyond belief.  You can shape to a line with such control that with a few minutes of practice you will have the highest degree of confidence and feel as if you have been shaping for years.

One feature the sets the Holey Galahad apart from other grinding wheels on the market are the holes machined in the cutter.  This enables you to see through the cutter as your shaping your work piece.  No more guess work!!!!

I would estimate that I have reduced the sculpting of my chairs by 10 to 15 hours using King Arthur’s Holey Galahad.  That’s right, 15% of the grunt work gone and a better job than ever!

I would highly recommend this tool to anyone building sculpted furniture.
